SOUTH WINDSOR —  Fire officials were on the scene of a hazmat situation on Friday afternoon, which has since been mitigated.

Fire Chief Kevin Cooney said Environmental Services Inc., located at 90 Brookfield St., found six expanding 55-gallon drums on its property.

The drum was in a trailer, located in a remote area.

Cooney said the fire department was working with the state’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, along with Environmental Services Inc. and the regional hazmat team, to handle the situation.
